Thinkfan is a tool to control noise and temperatures of your Thinkpad by setting custom fancurves

Install thinkfan from voidrepo

sudo xbps-install thinkfan

Then edit /etc/thinkfan.conf

and tweak temparatures and levels your liking

Load the thinkpad_acpi kernel module at boot

sudo touch /etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.conf
sudo vim /etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.conf
   ->options thinkpad_acpi experimental=1 fancontrol=1

Now thinkfan should work. You can test by "sudo thinkfan -n" to see the output.

This is a very powerful tool so you should keep an eye on temparatures in the first moments.

sudo xbps-install lm_sensors

"sensors" - to check temparatures

To enable the service permanently

sudo ln -s /etc/sv/thinkfan /var/service/
