Installation

Installing GNOME on Void Linux is very easy:

# xbps-install -S gnome

Once the installation has finished, you have to enable several services to start it properly:

# ln -sr /etc/sv/{gdm,dbus} /var/service

Optional

You also can enable the following services:

# ln -sr /etc/sv/NetworkManager /var/service # Make sure other Networkmanagers such as dhcpcd or wicd are disabled!
# ln -sr /etc/sv/avahi-daemon /var/service   # zeroconf support
# ln -sr /etc/sv/bluetoothd /var/service     # Bluetooth Support
# ln -sr /etc/sv/cupsd /var/service          # Printer support

To install the extra applications for GNOME, run the command:

# xbps-install -S gnome-apps

To be able to use GNOME Shell Extensions it is necessary to install the chrome-gnome-shell package:

# xbps-install -S chrome-gnome-shell
