KDE Plasma 5 is available in Void Linux.

Installation

# xbps-install -S kde5 xorg

Then, activate dbus and sddm services to start KDE and enable it at boot:

# ln -s /etc/sv/dbus /var/service
# ln -s /etc/sv/sddm /var/service

Optionally, install KDE's baseapps package:

# xbps-install -S kde5-baseapps

Be sure to install NetworkManager for the Plasma Network applet to work.

# xbps-install -S NetworkManager

And Alsa to get Audio working if required.

# xbps-install -S alsa-lib 

To make working automount USB device

# xbps-install -S udisks2
# sudo usermod -a -G storage username

To make working power manager

# xbps-install -S upower


Starting Plasma

From the console

To start Plasma with xinit/startx, append exec startplasma-x11 to your .xinitrc file.


Troubleshooting

No shutdown, reboot buttons, cannot configure SDDM in KDE Settings, Cannot connect through NetworkManager, Cannot Mount FileSystems... in Plasma

Remove NOX11 from /etc/pam.d/system-login (should be on the pam_ck_connector line) and reboot.

Cannot Shutdown without root

Install Elogind

# xbps-install -S elogind
